Hello

My name is Patricia Taylor and I am the Event/Outreach Planner at Women Minded, Society, Inc.

My Story

I am a wife of over 40 years and we have two grown children.  In the prime of my life (it’s never too late), I attended Strayer University where I received an Associate in Arts Economics, a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Master of Business Administration.

I chose to major in economics because I wanted to learn the theory of the U.S. monetary systems, how the markets work based on human behavior and how wealth is distributed among a society.  I also wanted to learn political economics and how capitalism shapes this country through the slave trade, reconstruction, Jim Crow and structural racism. I love to talk and debate about politics. My political views and opinion of choice is based on the progressive democratic platform. I believe in the rights of citizens and “what is truth”.

I am now retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia after 30 years of service.  My last position was a Financial Analyst II where I managed mental health facilities capital outlay, appropriation, allotments and how cash accounts are processed. I also manage Community Services Boards, Risk Assessments compliances and process end-of-year finance attachments to ensure finance attachment compliances are followed.

In my free time I love reading fiction and non-fiction books.  I also like writing poetry because it gives me the freedom to express my views on the social, political and injustice of African Americans.  To stay fit, I love riding my bike around the park with my husband.

I am passionate about serving the common good of humanity.  This passion is fulfilled with my participation in Women Minded Incorporated, where I have been a member since 2021.  I love going to our retreats, The Experience, to unwind and just be with women sharing our collective thoughts and views. I also enjoy Women Minded community service projects that serve people and organizations in need.

Love, Encouragement, Friendship and Laughter
